The Curated Closet is open
NOTE: On Friday March 18th the Curated Closet will remain open until 8 PM so that folks downtown for the Main Street Show can stop by.
Our latest venture, The Curated Closet, opened on March 3rd. Our hours are Thursday – Saturday from 11:00 – 6:00, and we expect to grow our way toward more days open.
This little gem of a store is curated as “Livingston’s Past, Present & Future.” Excellent-condition vintage clothing and accessories represent the past. High-end contemporary labels and fashion-forward styles (some new with tags) represent the present. And the future comes into play in the form of items that have been creatively recycled or repurposed, such as clutches and art pieces by Traci Isaly, or button bags by Robin Zank. Proceeds will support Community Closets efforts to reinvest in our community through grants to nonprofit and community organizations here in Park County (almost $200,000 since we opened in 2005).
We are at 110 W. Callender (former home of Grace Studio’s Aveda Salon) just across from Sax & Fryer in historic downtown Livingston!
From Caron Cooper, Executive Director:
While the economic downturn has made thrift-store shopping ever more pop-ular in recent years, it has also led to an increase in requests for funding to help the community’s most needy. In an effort to address those needs and find a new outlet for some of our finest goods, we opened a new store in downtown Livingston, the Curated Closet, in 2011. The theme of the store is “Livingston’s Past, Present & Future.” Excellent-con-dition vintage clothing and accessories represent the past. High-end contempo-rary labels (Ann Taylor, J. Crew, Coach, Brighton, etc.) and fashion-forward styles, some of which are brand new and have never been worn or used, represent the present. And the future comes into play in the form of items that have been cre-atively “recycled” for “reuse.”
In addition, we are striving to make individualized customer service a signa-ture feature of the The Curated Closet. Shoppers are encouraged to identify the brand names, styles, sizes or items they are shopping for and our clerks go out of their way to make the match. And, as with every other Community Closet venture, proceeds from C2R3’s sales will be reinvested in the community.
