At The Farmers’ Market

We’re at the Farmers’ Market every Wednesday with a selection of clothing and books from the store as well as some special items just for the Market, including Robin’s fantastic shoulder bags made from re-purposed jeans and jewels, and Patagonia® brand clothing. As ever, the kids get a free book. They seem to enjoy that a great deal.

The Farmers Market (organized by the Western Sustainability Exchange) starts at 4:30 Wednesdays through September and is held in a beautiful setting by the Miles Park Bandshell.

It works!

If you have ever wondered about the “WORKS” label on electronic goods at the Community Closet, here is a look at our testers. Every Wednesday, our “iTeen” volunteers go through the bin of donated electronic items and test every one of them:

So now you will know, when you buy electronic goods at our store, how they have made it to our shelves. Every one of our electronic items (anything you can plug in, from stereo equipment and TVs to lamps) is tested. With thanks to our iTeen volunteers!

A case for chickens

Community Closet shoppers find many ways to creatively reuse the goods they find in the store. But one patron has re-purposed a purchase in a way that even we might not have expected. This customer has created nesting boxes for her chickens from vintage and second-hand suitcases. The chicken coop contains a veritable luggage rack for nesting.
